Philip Booth writes about film, TV, music and books for Culture Pop: Sound & Screen, Jazziz, Relix, Jazzlands and other local and national publications, and serves on the grand jury for the Gasparilla Film Festival. He has contributed movie coverage to the St. Petersburg Times, PopMatters, Tampa Tribune, Sarasota Herald-Tribune, Orlando Weekly, Las Vegas CityLife, Creative Loafing/Tampa, Folio Weekly (Jacksonville), and Miami New Times, among other outlets. His essays on film and other areas of arts and entertainment have been published in Literature/Film Quarterly, The Journal of Popular Culture, The Journal of American Culture and SawPalm. Philip’s byline has also appeared in the Washington Post, Boston Globe, Variety, Billboard, DownBeat, Salon, CMJ New Music Monthly, Option, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Detroit Metro Times, and Philadelphia City Paper. Philip, a veteran bass player active with Acme Jazz Garage and other Tampa Bay area bands, was the pop music critic for the Tampa Tribune. He has an M.A. in English from the University of South Florida, where his thesis was a collection of short stories.
