The 7th Florida Film Critics Circle Awards, honoring the best in film for 2002, were announced on 3 January 2003. Spike Jonze’ Adaptation. was the big winner with four awards.

Best Supporting Actor:

Chris Cooper – Adaptation.

 

Best Supporting Actress:

Meryl Streep – Adaptation.

 

Best Cast:

Thirteen Conversations About One Thing

 

Best Screenplay:

Adaptation. – Charlie and Donald Kaufman

 

Best Animated Film:

Spirited Away (Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi)

 

Best Cinematography:

Edward Lachman – Far from Heaven

 

Best Documentary Film:

Bowling for Columbine

 

Best Foreign Language Film:

And Your Mother Too (Y tú mama también) – Mexico/USA

 

Best Musical Score:

Standing in the Shadows of Motown

 

Best Song:

“Cell Block Tango” – Chicago

Pauline Kael Breakout Award:

Maggie Gyllenhaal (actress) – Secretary

 

Golden Orange for Outstanding Contribution to Film:

John Sayles (director), Sunshine State, for his witty satire that insightfully examines Florida’s historic past, expanding present and uncertain future.

Amy Hobby (producer), Secretary and Thirteen Conversations About One Thing, for consistent excellence and adventurousness in film production.
